Lots going on at the moment. I am working on 3 new guitars (3 & 4 string slide guitars), 1 conversion, working name is “Royal With Cheese” and one restauration (is actually also a bit of a conversion)

“Royal With Cheese”

This is a conversion, which means I have bought an old guitar, have stripped it down, will cut holes for the extra parts, sand it down, re-spray it (it will be off-white with dark red highlights), plug the sound hole, add a pick up (in this case a so called toaster pick up) add the electronics, build a biscuit, nut, bridge and tail piece. The machine heads will also have renewed in this case.

The original guitar had a transfer on it, it says “Royal”, so I thought I would use that in the new name and it got me thinking of Pulp Fiction. I may change the name, but probably not.

Maybe you have seen the last conversion I did, if not, it may interest you: The Spaghetti Western.

This oldie has a 3 piece neck – you don’t see that much nowadays on the cheapo stuff coming out of China. I think it was made in Germany.

This guitar may be purchased at the time of writing. The price is €399.

“Whistling Past The Graveyard 1 & 2″

I am making a 3 and a 4 string slider, scale length is 635mm. The bodies are made out of the crucifixes I get from the local graveyard (oak).

These guitars will have straight through necks made of ash. At this point I am not sure if I am going to glue the neck in or screw it onto the body which would allow for changing it at any point, we’ll see.

They are fretted (3 string has 18, 4 string has 22 frets) and the fretboard is also made of ash.

I haven’t decided on pick ups at the moment, but will probably be buying a couple of handmade ones from Ted Crocker.

The 3 string model has been sold, but the 4 string model is still available. At this point you can also choose a pick up if you wish.

The price is €449 (4 string model, 3 string model is sold but you can order one of course for €399) .

“Shirley The Mermaid”

She’s a beauty.

Is actually a kind of old acoustic with a jazz feel, but I am converting it to a pure jazzy guitar.

It has a lovely tail piece and a really heavy 3 piece neck – feels like quality. The body has cracked and I need to repair it which entails using clamps made out of guitar tuners, watch the blog for updates on this.

She is going to be sprayed a kind turquise bluey green (reminds me of the seaside a bit) with burgandy hightlights.

As a pick up I am thinking about using a shadow screwed onto the side of the neck.

I may keep this, but if you are interested, the price will be €449. You can choose a pick up too at this point. I think this will be a lovely guitar when it is finished.

“Charge of The Light Brigade”

Charge Of The Light Brigade - Body

This is a guitar made out of an old charger I bought. I gutted it, and am adding a nice neck and fretboard. It has a somewhat shorter scale length (24″), otherwise the neck would be too long for the body and a bit uncomfortable to play. Again, I haven’t decided on a pick up, but will probably be a Ted Crocker (although my amp-building friend Klaus is also working on pick up design as we speak, will also be on sale here in a couple of months)

This is a 4 stringer – a slide guitar. The body is very nice, it’s quite rusty too, which I like a lot.

Someone had made an ugly hole for a meter, the meter looked very new so I have just bought an old looking volt meter for it – just deco of course!

This you can buy for €349, pick up selection is still possible at the time of writing.
