A quick update to show you what I have been doing.
- cut the hole for the “resonator” – a kitchen sieve
- added wooden supports under the hole
- using that wood I cut out out a circle as a cover for the original sound hole
- glued on a block of wood in the pick up area
- used a router to cut the slit for the pick up – due to the neck I had to build some rails as a guide for the router; but of course I couldn’t get the depth I needed so I got out my trusty chisel
- drilled 2 40mm holes for the smalles sound holes
- sanded her down
- used liquid wood to fill out various holes etc.
- did some more sanding
- masked the fretboard and the holes
- hung her up in the garage and started spraying away with matt black acrylic paint
- repeated it about 5-6 times
- cleaned and oiled the fingerboard
